As a public service, SANDAG distributes rEgion, a free, monthly newsletter. To subscribe to rEgion, visit www.sandag.org and enter a valid e-mail address in the box at the bottom left corner of the page. Each month, you will receive information to keep you updated on important projects and services underway and planned in the San Diego region. It's a great way to stay in the loop!

Help improve mobility in the Mid-Coast corridor
The scoping period for the Mid-Coast Corridor Transit Project is May 3 through June 1, 2010. During this time, public input on the project is being sought on alternatives, the project purpose and need, and issues to be studied in the environmental document.

Regional crime rates decline
The rates of violent crime and property crime dropped in the San Diego region during 2009, with both hitting new 25-year lows, according to the SANDAG annual regional crime bulletin.

Just keep it. Reload it.
Beginning May 1, 2010, a $2 fee will be charged for new Compass Cards. To avoid this charge, always bring your card with you to reload it with your new transit pass.

Gear up for Bike to Work Day
Join thousands of San Diegans on Friday, May 21 for National Bike to Work Day!

2050 RTP workshops continue through early May
If you haven’t attended a 2050 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) workshop, it’s not too late! Workshops continue through early May to gather public input as SANDAG works on a draft of the 2050 RTP, a document that sets the course for how the region’s transportation network will connect to homes, jobs, and schools in the coming decades.

511 expands, now offers taxi service
SANDAG’s 511 traffic, transit, and commuter information service is the first 511 program in the nation to offer taxi referral service. All travelers have to do is dial 511 toll-free and say ‘taxi’ or ‘cab’ and they will be transferred to a dispatcher to arrange for a taxi
