Beat high gas prices with these incentives & tips

SANDAG

Gas prices remain high in San Diego but you can take action to help reduce the impact on your wallet by carpooling or vanpooling, taking transit, riding your bike, or driving an electric vehicle.

SANDAG has partnered with MTS, SDG&E®, iCommute, and FasTrak to bring you opportunities to save gas, time, and money – and help create a cleaner environment.  For a limited time, money-saving incentives are available to help you try out transit, or participate in a carpool or vanpool.

Share the ride and save!

Carpool with a friend, family member, or co-worker to instantly reduce your commuting costs by 50 percent or more.

Incentive: Sign up for an iCommute account and log at least one carpool trip in TripTracker and get a $10 gift card sponsored by SDG&E.

Vanpools are a comfortable, convenient, cost-effective way for seven to 15 people to share a ride to work, save money, reduce wear and tear on their cars, and arrive stress free.

Incentive: Sign up to lease a van through VPSI or Enterprise Rideshare and receive $50 off your first month’s lease. Qualifying vanpools are also eligible for up to $400 per month to help offset the cost of the lease.

Try Transit - buses, trolleys and trains can take you anywhere you need to go in San Diego. Reduce your stress by leaving the driving to someone else!

Incentive: Get a free one-day Compass Card to try any Bus, Trolley, COASTER or SPRINTER on MTS or NCTD routes (restrictions apply).

More clean-air options

Riding a bike to work or school is a healthy, affordable alternative! Celebrate May’s National Bike Month by registering for Bike to Work 2012.  You can participate in cycling activities and win prizes all month long.

Go Electric SDG&E is helping to create a plug-in ready region by working with many groups to install hundreds of commercial and residential charging stations for electric vehicles throughout its service territory. SDG&E even offers low plug-in vehicle residential rates. Learn more about saving with electric vehicles at www.sdge.com/ev.

Use FasTrak® to save time and gas. Even if you can’t share the ride, you can still avoid wasting gas idling in traffic by taking the I-15 Express Lanes or the SR 125 (South Bay Expressway) with a FasTrak prepaid toll account.

Promotions for vanpool, carpool, and transit end May 31, 2012, or while supplies last.  See terms and conditions at 511sd.com/savegas.
