About 4,000 public comments from nearly 1,500 individuals and organizations were received on the Draft 2050 Regional Transportation Plan and its Sustainable Communities Strategy. Find out next steps.

SANDAG Board discusses South Bay Expressway financing options
The SANDAG Board of Directors recently heard a report from staff and representatives from the Barclays investment banking team on financing options for acquiring the South Bay Expressway. On July 29, 2011, the Board approved acquiring the SR 125 toll road (assuming the Caltrans Development Franchise Agreement) for $344.5 million, subject to various conditions and contingencies.

Registration now open for 2011 Corporate Challenge
Rideshare Week 2011 is October 3 - 7. This year, San Diegans are asked to take the challenge all month long! Take the Rideshare 2011 Corporate Challenge and join other San Diego County companies and organizations as they encourage employees to replace their solo commute with a new, more sustainable commute choice.

New amenities for SuperLoop riders
SuperLoop – a high-frequency bus service with stops at popular destinations in the North University City area – is undergoing $6 million in improvements by SANDAG and the Metropolitan Transit System.

SchoolPool expands as parents gear up for new school year
SchoolPool – a secure online service that connects parents to organize carpools, walking, and biking groups to get their kids to school – is established at 56 campuses throughout San Diego County as of August 25, up from 40 last year. More people sign up every day as word gets out about the SANDAG program.

SANDAG "Bench" developed to assist local firms
SANDAG and Caltrans District 11 soon will be advertising $360 million in procurements for transportation infrastructure projects in the county including transit system improvements, freeway and bridge enhancements, landscape design, freeway corridors, and other design efforts.SANDAG introduced a new “Bench” concept that was developed to assist certified small businesses in their efforts to participate in these new Architecture and Engineering contracts.

SoCal transportation summit scheduled for September 6
Hundreds of transportation, business, and political leaders will converge September 6 in downtown Los Angeles for the 10th Annual Southern California Transportation Summit hosted by Mobility 21.

Construction underway on Bayshore Bikeway segment
San Diego leaders came together August 5 to break ground on a $1.5 million project to build a new piece of the Bayshore Bikeway, which will eventually provide a continuous 24-mile loop around San Diego Bay for cyclists. View event photo album on Facebook.

I-15 congestion management receives $800K boost
The Federal Transit Administration has awarded $800K to the San Diego region to supplement its Integrated Corridor Management initiative aimed at deploying and integrating technology to better manage traffic on I-15.
