Stocks elected Chair of SANDAG Board
The SANDAG Board of Directors selected Encinitas Deputy Mayor Jerome Stocks as its new Chair on December 17.

SANDAG and County acquire Elfin Forest habitat
Working as partners, SANDAG and the County of San Diego recently purchased approximately 40 acres of sensitive habitat in the unincorporated area of Escondido Creek south of the City of San Marcos.   

Rideshare Week 2010 winners announced
SANDAG honored the winners of the Rideshare Week 2010 Corporate Challenge early this month, acknowledging work that led to the elimination of almost 5,200 solo commutes and nearly 100,000 pounds of greenhouse gas emission.

Regional arrest rates declined slightly in 2009
Overall arrest rates for both adults and juveniles declined slightly during 2009, a year in which almost 115,000 people were arrested in the county, according to an annual SANDAG study.

Grants available for planning healthy communities
SANDAG is soliciting applications for $1.15 million in grants to be used in combatting rising obesity rates in the San Diego region by planning communities in ways that support increased physical activity and access to healthy foods.

SANDAG Board accepts scenario as the preferred transportation network
At its Dec. 17 meeting, the SANDAG Board of Directors accepted the Hybrid Scenario as the preferred Revenue Constrained Transportation Network Scenario for use in developing the Draft 2050 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) to be circulated in 2011.

SR 11 and Otay Mesa East Port of Entry draft environmental document released
On December 3, 2010, Caltrans and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) released the State Route 11 and Otay Mesa East Port of Entry Draft Environmental Impact Report/Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIR/DEIS) for a 60-day public comment period.
