SANDAG year in review, 2012
For SANDAG and its partner agencies, 2012 was a highly productive and fruitful year.
Progress on Oceanside rail trail
SANDAG, in cooperation with the City of Oceanside, is moving forward on the construction of a portion of the planned Coastal Rail Trail between Oceanside Boulevard and Wisconsin Avenue. Construction on this two-thousand-foot portion of the trail is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2013 and last through summer 2013.
Public Participation Plan updated
The SANDAG Public Participation Plan update was approved by the Board of Directors at its December 21 meeting.
Rail yard project moving forward
Initial work on the San Ysidro Freight Rail Yard Improvement Project is slated to begin in early 2013, and construction is expected to get underway in mid-2013. The purpose is to increase freight capacity and efficiency by expanding the facility’s size, reconfiguring its footprint, and replacing aging rail infrastructure.
