SR 52 opening celebration set for March 19
Everyone is invited to a community fair and fun walk/run/bike ride on Santee’s new stretch of freeway from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19 to celebrate the upcoming opening of State Route 52 between SR 125 and SR 67.

SANDAG helps to launch County “Healthy Works” initiative
SANDAG chairman Jerome Stocks joined San Diego County Supervisors Pam Slater-Price and Ron Roberts recently in the unveiling of the County’s comprehensive obesity-prevention initiative, Healthy Works. As part of the Healthy Works program, SANDAG received $3 million from the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency to fund regional land use planning and transportation programs that support increased physical activity and access to healthy foods.

SANDAG kicks off Walk, Ride, and Roll to School program
As part of the County of San Diego’s Healthy Works initiative, the SANDAG regional SchoolPool program has launched a new service to help parents create walking school buses and bike buddy groups to travel back and forth to school together.

What’s next for the 2050 RTP?
A busy time is coming up as SANDAG works with community partners and the public to create the 2050 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP), a comprehensive blueprint for the evolution of the region’s transportation system in the coming decades.

Online iCommute system upgraded
In January 2011, iCommute implemented several upgrades and enhancements to its Web site and commuter tools. Some of the noticeable changes include a new look and feel to the design of the site and the log-in home page, easier-to-use TripTracker functionality, and improved features to the SchoolPool program so users can now find bike buddies and walking school bus partners in addition to carpool ridematches.
