Deadline for Draft 2050 RTP comments extended
At its June 10 meeting, the SANDAG Board of Directors extended the public comment period for the Draft 2050 Regional Transportation Plan to July 8, 2011.
Draft 2050 RTP EIR released on June 7
SANDAG, as the lead agency under the California Environmental Quality Act, has prepared a Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Report for the Draft 2050 RTP and its Sustainable Communities Strategy. The Draft EIR was released for a 55-day public review and comment period on June 7, 2011.
Bike to Work Corporate Challenge winners announced
This year marked the first time that the Bike to Work Corporate Challenge was promoted for the entire month. Fifty-seven organizations competed for bragging rights. Congratulations to the winners!
Nearly 150 acres acquired for open space conservation
Nearly 150 acres of land in different parts of San Diego County have been acquired recently by SANDAG for open space conservation. The land purchases cost a total of $6.7 million and are intended to offset environmental impacts from road projects, such as the expansion of State Route 76.
Rapid Bus service launched in Escondido
A community celebration marked the official launch on June 7 of the Escondido BREEZE Rapid bus service, a new type of system that uses special features and technology to quickly and reliably move passengers.
Murph Express bus service continues to grow
The Murph Express, MTS Route 830, is a Premium Express bus service from Murphy Canyon military housing to Naval Base San Diego.
July Board of Directors Meeting
The next SANDAG Board of Directors business meeting is scheduled for Friday, July 22, 2011, at 9 a.m. Members of the public not in attendance may listen live to this meeting by accessing the "Listen Live" link from the SANDAG Web site home page approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting.
