Register for Bike to Work 2012 activities
SANDAG
San Diegans will have plenty of opportunities to participate in Bike to Work activities in May, which is National Bike Month. Bike to Work 2012 supports bicycling as a viable, environmentally friendly, cost-saving commute choice.

Bike to Work Day is Friday, May 18, 2012. Individuals who plan to bike to work or are considering biking to work on May 18 are encouraged to register for Bike to Work Day by visiting www.511sd.com/icommute starting in April.

SANDAG hopes to improve on the 6,000 cyclists who rode in last year’s event! Help make that happen by registering today for Bike to Work Day – and get a free Bike to Work 2012 t-shirt.

Another opportunity to participate in Bike to Work 2012 is by hosting a pit stop. Pit stops offer fun breathers for new and experienced cyclists on Bike to Work Day. Pit stops are places where riders can rest and pick up FREE t-shirts, water, snacks, and encouragement. If you or your company would like to host a pit stop, please complete the online registration form by April 13, 2012. iCommute provides the goodies for registered pit stops to distribute, making it easy and affordable for your company to participate. It’s a fun way to encourage cycling to work and to get involved in your community. This year, we plan to break our 2011 record with 80 pit stops across the county!

If you want to get your company or agency involved in Bike to Work 2012, you can register for the iCommute Corporate Challenge. The month-long Corporate Challenge encourages companies to compete within their size category for the highest percentage of bike ridership during the month of May. Participating can help your organization meet corporate green goals, build team camaraderie, demonstrate community involvement, or simply free up valuable parking space. Registered companies can also receive FREE bicycle safety and education classes provided by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition. Registration ends April 13.

For more information on Bike to Work 2012, check out our Bike to Work 2012 event Web page or call 511 and say “iCommute.”
