Be safe over the holidays – call 511 for a taxi

The arrival of the holiday season means holiday parties and celebrations. If you or someone you know needs a taxi, just dial 511. It’s fast, it’s simple, and it’s easy to remember. No more looking up numbers. No more waiting on hold. Just dial 511 from any phone in the county and say “Taxi,” and you will be connected directly to a dispatcher.

“We are making it easy for people to make the responsible choice,” Santee City Councilmember and SANDAG Transportation Committee Chair Jack Dale said. “If you’ve been drinking, don’t get behind the wheel. Call 511 and take a taxi home.”

The SANDAG 511 program is the region’s traveler information service, providing everything from real-time traffic conditions, to roadside assistance, to public transit and commuter assistance programs – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Users can access the information free on the phone or on the Web at 511sd.com.
