Older Compass Cards now expiring
A countywide marketing campaign is underway to encourage transit riders to check the expiration dates on their Compass Cards and replace them before they expire. The first cards, released in 2009, have a limited life and are beginning to expire this year.
Construction to begin on new transit station
Starting early next year, construction will begin on the new Sabre Springs/Peñasquitos Transit Station located on Sabre Springs Parkway near Poway Road in San Diego. The station will include a multi-level parking garage and upgraded transit center for the new I-15 Bus Rapid Transit service.
Rideshare Corporate Challenge winners unveiled
By encouraging their employees to adopt sustainable commute choices, such as carpooling, biking, walking, and using public transit, six employers in the San Diego region have won the Rideshare 2012 Corporate Challenge sponsored by the SANDAG iCommute program.
Three local schools win cash prizes
As winners of the countywide Walk, Ride, and Roll to School Challenge, three schools received cash prizes to buy classroom supplies. The winning schools had the most students walking, biking, or using other alternative transportation modes to get to school.
