The Rideshare Week first Rideshare Week is a nationally recognized event held the first week in October to promote commute alternatives to driving alone. In San Diego, the event was extended throughout the month of October to include the first annual Rideshare Week Corporate Challenge. The SANDAG iCommute program would like to thank those companies and jurisdictions that registered for the Corporate Challenge! They are: Active Network, Naval Base Coronado, Point Loma Nazarene University, Qualcomm, SAIC, Sharp Health Care, Tri-City Medical Center, the San Diego Zoo, La Costa Glen, AECOM, San Diego Regional Airport Authority, City of Coronado, North County Transit District, California Center for Sustainable Energy, City of Solana Beach, and Parsons Brinckerhoff. Winners will be announced in November. A separate Commuter Challenge also continued all through October, recognizing individuals who logged their eligible commute trips in iCommute using the TripTracker tool. For the weekly drawings, prizes included transit passes, an overnight stay at an area hotel, Cloud 9 SuperShuttle service, restaurant and Westfield Mall gift certificates, and more. The grand prize was an electric bike from Ivan Stewart’s Electric Bike Center (a $1,700 value)! All prizes are listed here. Also, any group that started a new vanpool in October with Enterprise or VPSI Inc. saved $100. Please visit www.icommutesd.com for more Rideshare Week 2010 information, or call 511 and say ”iCommute.” Special thanks to the Rideshare Week Gold Sponors - VPSI Inc. and Ivan Stewart’s Electric Bike Center.
