Proposals sought to conduct independent examination
March 16, 2017 - At the direction of a newly formed subcommittee of the SANDAG Board’s Executive Committee, the agency has released a request for proposals (RFP) to seek law firms with investigative expertise to conduct an independent examination of the handling of the revenue forecast for Measure A.
On March 10, the Executive Committee of the SANDAG Board unanimously voted to create a subcommittee to develop a request for proposals and make a recommendation. The subcommittee comprises Poway Mayor Steve Vaus, San Diego City Council President Myrtle Cole, and Del Mar Mayor Terry Sinnott, who serves as vice chair of the SANDAG Board. The final decision on who to engage for the independent examination will be made by the full SANDAG Board, which is made up of 21 voting members, all of whom are elected officials from the region’s 18 cities and the county government.
Measure A, which fell short of the two-thirds majority vote needed to pass last November, would have raised sales tax regionwide by a half cent to pay for transportation and other needs.
