SANDAG Continues Series of Webinars on the 5 Big Moves

Public and Private Industry Experts Share Insights on Strategies to Develop a Bold New Transportation Vision

August 20, 2019-- SANDAG is hosting a series of 45-minute webinars to discuss the 5 Big Moves. These strategies set the framework for a bold new transportation vision for San Diego Forward: The 2021 Regional Plan, which will enhance connectivity, increase safety and sustainability, and improve quality of life in the San Diego region.

The 2021 Regional Plan will synchronize the 5 Big Moves – Complete Corridors, Transit Leap, Mobility Hubs, Flexible Fleets, and Next Operating System (OS)– to deliver an integrated, world class transportation system.

The next webinar will focus on the Next OS and will take place on Wednesday, August 21 at 12 p.m. PDT.

The Next OS is a digital platform that functions as the brain of the entire transportation system to connect smart infrastructure and different modes of transportation – passenger vehicles, buses, ridesharing, delivery trucks, autonomous vehicles, bikes, scooters, and more. The Next OS will turn data into real-time actionable information for transportation operators and travelers.

Industry expert guest speakers will discuss the features and anticipated benefits of the Next OS, where these services typically operate, and how the Next OS will synchronize the 5 Big Moves.

Next OS webinar guest speakers include:
• Scott Corwin, Managing Director, Deloitte
• Mandy Bishop, Program Manager, Smart Columbus

Scott Corwin leads Deloitte’s Future of Mobility practice, systematically researching and analyzing how a series of converging forces are giving rise to the emergence of a new seamless, intermodal mobility ecosystem for the movement of people and goods, and the implications for the private and public sectors and society at large. Under Scott’s leadership, Deloitte’s Future of Mobility team is working closely with key players in business, government, academia, local communities, and non-governmental organizations to actively shape the emergence of the mobility ecosystem.

Mandy Bishop serves as the Project Manager for Smart Columbus, a region-wide Smart City initiative co-led by the City of Columbus and the Columbus Partnership. Smart Columbus is accelerating human progress through open mobility, leading Columbus to a future where everyone benefits from technology. Mandy has served as the staff lead for the Ohio Governor’s 21st Century Priorities Task Force and Deputy Director of Planning for the Ohio Department of Transportation.
