Draft 2050 RTP EIR available for public comment

The SANDAG Board of Directors released the Draft 2050 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP), including the Draft Air Quality Conformity Determination (AQCD), and the Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS), at the April 22, 2011 Board meeting. The public comment period for the Draft RTP, SCS, and AQCD is now closed. View information regarding what happens to your comments after they are submitted.

The Draft 2050 RTP maps out a system designed to maximize transit enhancements, integrate biking and walking elements, and promote programs to reduce demand and increase efficiency. The $196 billion plan is the blueprint for the development of the San Diego region’s transportation system over the next 40 years.

The SCS is a plan for developing the transportation system in such a way that the region reduces per-capita greenhouse gas emissions to state-mandated levels.

SANDAG released the Draft 2050 RTP Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for a 55-day public review and comment period beginning June 7, 2011 and ending August 1, 2011. We encourage you to submit comments regarding the EIR online in English or Spanish. Comments also may be submitted to Rob Rundle, Principal Regional Planner, SANDAG, 401 B Street, Suite 800, San Diego, CA 92101 or rru@sandag.org.
