The Land Management Grant Program uses TransNet funds to support the SANDAG Environmental Mitigation Program by allocating $4 million annually to implement regional habitat management and monitoring efforts. These efforts help maintain the region’s biological integrity avoiding the future listing of species as endangered.
Applicants for this grant include land managers from private nonprofit organizations, local jurisdictions, and other government agencies. During the tenth cycle of grants in October 2022, 19 projects were awarded $2.4 million.
One hundred and thirty-seven land management grants totaling approximately $18.8 million in TransNet funding have been provided to land management entities in the region.
