The Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP) is a five-year investment plan that identifies projects and programs the San Diego region proposes to fund. The primary purpose of the RTIP is to incrementally implement the latest Regional Plan, which guides our regional transportation investments for the next 20 years.
Projects funded with federal, state, or TransNet money must be included in an approved RTIP. For SANDAG projects to be incorporated in the RTIP, projects must first be included in the SANDAG Program Budget approved by the SANDAG Board of Directors.
2025 Regional Transportation Improvement Program
The Final 2025 RTIP covers five fiscal years (FY 2025 through FY 2029) and incrementally implements the SANDAG 2021 Regional Plan.
The SANDAG Board adopted the 2025 RTIP on September 27, 2024. The Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration are expected to approve the 2025 RTIP and its air quality conformity determination in December 2024.
