SANDAG Seeks Input on Next Chief Executive Officer

The SANDAG Board of Directors is conducting a nationwide search for a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the regional agency. SANDAG Chief Executive Officer Hasan Ikhrata’s last day with SANDAG will be December 29.

“As SANDAG Chairwoman, I want to reiterate that our Board is committed to ensuring the recruitment process is transparent and that our community is engaged every step of the way,” said SANDAG and San Diego County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Nora Vargas. “We are committed to selecting a seasoned executive to lead SANDAG into the future, who values our stakeholders and community. The public’s involvement in this process is crucial and we are creating various opportunities for the community to participate.”

The public will have opportunities to share input through a survey and at two listening sessions this month. Spanish interpretation will be available.

The recruitment firm, CPSHR, is gathering input and feedback about the scope of responsibilities and priorities for the SANDAG CEO role, and to identify the qualifications, experience, and key leadership competencies that are expected of the individual selected for the position.

Information gathered through the survey and listening sessions will be shared with the SANDAG Board of Directors to develop a profile of the ideal candidate, the position announcement, advertising materials, and selection criteria.

The SANDAG Chief Executive Officer survey is accepting comments by December 1, 2023.
