SANDAG’s Bayshore Bikeway will provide a safe and scenic way for people who walk, ride, and roll to travel around San Diego Bay. It will eventually extend 24 miles around the bay, providing easy access to major bayfront employers and recreational destinations. We are developing additional improvements based on the Bayshore Bikeway Plan adopted in 2006.
The Bayshore Bikeways project is part of the Regional Bike Plan Early Action Program approved by the SANDAG Board of Directors in September 2013, and it will connect to the larger bikeway network being built throughout the region as part of the Regional Bike Plan. TransNet is funding the cost of project’s planning, design, and construction.
The Bayshore Bikeway Taskforce, which includes representatives from the five cities around San Diego Bay, the County of San Diego, the San Diego Unified Port District, and the bicycling community, guides the development of the bikeway.
