TransNet Active Transportation Grant Program

SANDAG’s Active Transportation Grant Program (ATGP) is funded by TransNet the half-cent sales tax approved by voters in 1988 to fund local transportation projects. ATGP encourages local jurisdictions to plan and build facilities that promote multiple travel choices and increase connectivity to transit, schools, retail centers, parks, work, and other community gathering places. It also encourages local jurisdictions to provide bike parking, education, encouragement, and awareness programs that support pedestrian and bike infrastructure.

ATGP has distributed tens of millions of dollars over the years, resulting in multiple innovative projects that have improved the quality of life in the San Diego region.
